All proceeds from Tampa Bay's Dancing with the Stars 2019 will go directly to support the mission of Hands Across the Bay which allows us to help hundreds of families in the Bay Area throughout the upcoming year. We also share a portion of the funds with fellow local nonprofit organizations doing notable work in our community.

Congratulations to the 2019 Benefiting Charities!

"A Helping Hand For A Better Tomorrow"

Hands Across the Bay was developed to positively impact the lives of as many Tampa Bay residents as possible. We assist and mentor hardworking families in need, advocate for change, support other organizations, and spread love with various acts of kindness. Through our work, we hope to inspire our community to become more compassionate, empathetic, and charitable.

Advocating… Educating… Empowering Founded in 2009 by four dedicated Bay Area attorneys, Are You Safe set out with a mission to become advocates in the community, ensuring that victims and their children could find a sense of safety and security by having their own Pro Bono attorney help them navigate the legal system. Ten years later, over 600 restraining order hearings, over 270 educational seminars and community outreach activities and thousands of pro bono hours later, Are You Safeʼs advocacy work has only grown. We now provide free counseling to both victims and their families, while also promoting awareness and education to the numerous communities that make up the Tampa Bay Area through our seminars and speaking engagements.

The Armed Forces Families Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization made up of volunteers from many communities across the United States. Our commitment has led to the completion of multiple projects that will benefit the families of our service men and women for years to come. Our focus is primarily on areas of significant need which often fall outside the tight budget constraints of the military and its family support organizations. All funds remain local.

In 1986, Tampa businessman Art “Pep” Pepin awaited a heart transplant. After Pep received his new heart in Texas from a 26-year-old donor, he and his family returned to Tampa and focused their philanthropic interest in making the most advanced heart care available right here at home. The founder of Pepin Distributing Company and a Tampa community leader for decades, Pep put his money where his heart was, as he and his son, Tom, pledged to help our hospital’s new cardiac program grow.

Almost twenty years later, it has become one of the leading programs in the Tampa area. Today, the Pepin Heart Institute combines three decades of experience with leading-edge technology and procedures, with the expertise of the area's finest physicians to bring the best possible heart care to Tampa Bay.

The Spark Initiative’s mission is to cultivate human potential and resilience through an understanding of the mind using mentoring, coaching and education. Through the S.P.A.R.K. Mentoring Programs, SI can reach the most vulnerable at-risk students, ages 6-22, in Hillsborough County Public Schools. Using a unique curriculum, this program was designed to help these students establish an understanding of how their mind operates and how that’s beneficial to their everyday life/decisions. Through S.P.A.R.K., we expect the participants who complete the 13-18-week program to show an increase in resiliency, decision-making, problem-solving, impulse-control and academic success. S.P.A.R.K. is now an evidence-based program that proves these statistics. It is our goal and mission to one day be able to donate our programs to all of Hillsborough County.

In order to meet the changing needs of food insecure individuals and families in our community, Feeding Tampa Bay and Trinity Cafe have merged, effective January 1. 2019. By combining capabilities we will expand the scope of services and options people have in accessing healthy meals across the 10-county Tampa Bay region. It is an exciting time for both organizations as we work together to restore dignity and offer innovative solutions and healthy outcomes for all of those that we serve. This merger will provide our volunteers and donors with many more opportunities and programs that help alleviate hunger and provide a hand up to the guests that we serve. Our goal is to provide food today, food tomorrow but ultimately inspire our neighbors to be able to provide for themselves, food for a lifetime.
